Memories

Vacation is coming to an end. I always get emotional the last day and today is no different. I look back over the last two weeks and am able to see all the moments that were made and are now imbedded into our memories. It always feel a little like New Year's Day wondering what the next year is going to bring. I try not to let that thought linger to long...I'm going to hold those momemts close to my heart and see you all next year! Thanks to all of you for the memories and I love you all!

Tuesday Night Fishing

The weather has been surprisingly good the last couple of days. Looking at the forecast last week I really thought we'd be looking for things to do inside. The sun has been shining and the temperatures in the 70's. We've had a little rain and wind, but nothing that has stopped us from skiing and fishing.
Last night Kevin, Bryant and Connor went bass fishing. Just as they were getting ready to go in Kevin hooked this 4 lb bass. Connor caught a lily pad :).....bigger than Kevin's fish.
I went crappie fishing with Kevin this morning. It was beautiful. We passed a group of eight loons in the water and they were all calling to each other. The mist on the lake was rising and then later the reflections in the still water were awesome. In addition to all that we caught fish! We kept sixteen....and threw several back.
Three more days of Happiness. I'm trying to stay positive, but then it's back to school :(

Connor's bloggin'!

Good morning! Connor would like me to invite you all to his new blog at connorengbers.blogspot.com He set it up himself and the title is his own creation. I think it's pretty clever!

On another note the countdown for the lake has begun....6 more sleeps, right boys? It really doesn't seem like it's lake time again, but I will definately take a vacation. Two weeks of Happiness, who can resisit that? I'm hoping for a relaxing time with family, good fishing, and some sun and water fun would be a great bonus.

We have several things going on this week and lots to do before we'll be on the road to Hackensack. Connor is leaving tomorrow for four days at the Northwestern basketball camp in Orange City. I have to finish up some work necessary for registration the following week. Kevin, of course, has to make sure everyone knows their money will be safe for the two weeks he's gone. Thursday I will be making a trip to Rock Valley to drop off Susie for her vacation with Lynelle Schwien and then drive on to Orange City to pick up Connor. Thursday is also the rehearsal and dinner for a wedding Kevin is to sing for. Friday is the wedding. Somewhere in there we'll have to get the boat, groceries, do laundry, pack, and go over many lists before we're ready to go. I can't wait until next Sunday when we're there and able to sit in a lawn chair and relax!

As I wrote that last paragraph I realized Bryant doesn't have much on his schedule for the week. I now know how I'm going to get everything done.......Bryant is going to get really good at reading and following lists :)

See you all at the lake!

It's a warm, sunny South Dakota day today. Jon, Erin, Olivia, Kevin and I went downtown to The Diner for lunch and then walked through Falls Park.

Ouch!

Bryant had a small incident on the basketball floor this weekend. He was playing aggressively, went up for a rebound, and came down with the opposing player's finger(nail) in his eye. Kevin and I weren't there so we are indebted to another player's dad for taking him to the emergency room in Wahpeton, North Dakota. They checked out the eye for injury and that, thankfully, is ok. The eyelid has been "glued". Interesting fact is that Jon did some summer research on the type of glue that was used!

Eighteen hours....

One more day...less than that actually. Nick will be close to Chicago at this time tomorrow. My heart is breaking, but I'm trying to be strong.
I hope he knows how much I love him.
I hope he knows how much I admire his independance.
I hope he knows I've noticed he is growing up.....and is becoming very intelligent and informed.
I hope he knows I DO believe in him and support him.
I hope he knows that I love to hear him sing.
I hope he knows he has a great sense of humor.
I hope he knows that we will always be here for him.
I hope he knows I am proud to be his mom.
I hope he knows I admire his goals to minister in some way.
I hope he knows I'm going to miss him very much!
I hope he knows that when I have reservations and concerns, it's because I love him.
I hope he knows I want him to be happy.
I hope he knows I will pray for him everyday.

A new look!

Something I remember from WAY back in junior high English with Miss Herrema was that I had to write several haikus. I struggled with this project and it became a family project with mom and dad helping. I don't remember the whole poem but the final five syllabel line was contemplating life. It has stayed with me....and the other day when I was walking, it popped back in my mind. I've been wanting to redo my blog with a different title and template and I thought the title was fitting. We are always learning, thinking, and experiencing. So.....here's to my new title, more sharing, and the Engbers contemplating life!
